The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its Energy Star program and the DesignLights Consortium (DLC) for its Qualified Products List (QPL) have issued statements indicating that neither is now accepting LM-80 LED test reports issued by the Citizen Electronics Laboratory in Fujiyoshidashi, Japan. What the news essentially means is many new solid-state lighting (SSL) products integrating Citizen LEDs will not qualify for rebates from utilities and municipalities that are tied to those market transformation programs.
